  • Course Description

    This course provides a comprehensive exploration of key mathematical concepts across Number, Measurement, Geometry, and Statistics. Students will develop a strong foundation in place value, arithmetic operations, fractions, decimals, percentages, algebra, and ratio. The curriculum progresses toward more advanced topics such as unit conversions, area and volume, and shape geometry. Through a structured sequence of lessons, learners build confidence in problem-solving, reasoning, and applying mathematics to real-life contexts. The aim is to deepen conceptual understanding while strengthening fluency and mathematical communication.

    By the end of this course, students will be able to:

    Number

    • Understand and work confidently with place value in large and small numbers

    • Perform efficient and accurate calculations using the four operations

    • Compare, simplify, add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions

    • Convert between fractions, decimals, and percentages

    • Apply ratios and algebraic expressions to real-world and mathematical problems

    • Work fluently with decimals in calculations and problem-solving

    Measurement

    • Convert between different units of measure

    • Calculate area, perimeter, and volume of a range of shapes

    Geometry

    • Recognize, classify, and describe properties of 2D and 3D shapes

    • Use coordinate systems to describe position, movement, and direction

    Statistics

    • Interpret, construct, and analyze statistical representations such as charts and graphs

    Overall Skills

    • Develop problem-solving strategies using logical reasoning

    • Communicate mathematical ideas clearly

    • Apply mathematical understanding to everyday situations

    • Build confidence and independence in tackling unfamiliar problems
